Lake Lefroy in the Goldfields is one of Western Australia’s great salt lakes — vast, flat, and almost entirely white, its surface broken only by the shadows cast by the low angle of the sun across the salt crust and the occasional rock formation at its edge. This study works with those shadows as its primary subject: the long, precise forms they cast across the lake floor creating a geometry that is both stark and quietly beautiful, the deep reds of the surrounding rock country framing the pale expanse of the lake with warmth.
